Somerville, Victoria, Australia – December 2017 — Sealite is pleased to announce the company has signed a long-term sponsorship agreement with the Westernport Volunteer Coast Guard.
As part of the sponsorship, Sealite is providing much-needed funding for the operational expenses of the primary and secondary search & rescue vessels and was given exclusive naming rights. The newly named ‘Sealite’ vessel will be based out of Hastings, covering the area of the Portsea Back Beach through to Wilson’s Promontory and the coast in between up to 5NM offshore.
The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard is composed entirely of volunteers and its aim is to promote safety in the operation of small craft, as well as the education and training of safety on the water, and finally by search and rescue. The Westernport Coast Guard alone averages between 120-150 search or rescue incidents per year.
“Coast Guard Westernport, a 100% volunteer organisation, is excited to partner with Sealite towards ensuring our vessels can be kept operational, serviced, and ready to respond to emergencies. As a globally recognised leader in maritime safety, Sealite is a natural fit with our primary mission of safety at sea. Through this partnership, Sealite relieves a considerable financial burden for us, allowing our focus to remain where it should be — search and rescue, maritime safety, and educating the boating public within our local communities.” Stated Jeremy West, Flotilla Commander, VF4.
Both Sealite and the Westernport Volunteer Coast Guard have a strong focus on marine safety and the long-term agreement represents a natural partnership. “Sealite is proud to support the Westernport Volunteer Coast Guard, who tirelessly give their time to help the boating community on the water, whilst promoting safety in the operation of all water crafts. We are excited to further support marine safety and assist such an important and beneficial organisation.” Commented Chris Procter, Sealite CEO.
