Scotland, UK – May 2017 — The Northern Lighthouse Board is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man and provides a vital safety service to the mariner and their mission is ‘To deliver a reliable, efficient and cost-effective Aids to Navigation service for the benefit and safety of all Mariners’.

The navigation aid contract was awarded based on a thorough technical and commercial evaluation of Sealite’s SL-300 and SL-155 series lanterns conducted by the NLB. The award covers the SL-300-1D5 as a long-range lantern with 21NM visible range and a 1.5degree vertical distribution, suitable for a range of day and night time applications.

Sealite’s SL-300 Series was launched in 2014 at the IALA Conference with the goal of achieving the industry’s most efficient long range lantern. The high intensity lantern was updated in 2015 with a new 1.5D lens to provide a class-leading range and performance of over 180,000cd luminous intensity white. Coupled with its small form factor, the lantern provides significant advantages over traditional larger lens stack assemblies.

Sealite are excited to work with the Northern Lighthouse Board and provide reliable aids to navigation lighting for Scotland.
